Part of Something Bigger

MissionsFest 2017—October 15 to 22—brings us face-to-face with God's grand mission to restore a broken world. Each of us has a part, using our unique gifts and experiences, and we do it together!

The Lord has assigned each a task.
I planted the seed, Apollos watered it,
but God made it grow.
The one who plants and the one who waters
have one purpose. . .
for we are co-workers in God's service.

—from 1 Corinthians 3:5–9

MissionsFest Highlights

Collecting Food Paks— A great family project! Pick up an empty Food Pak box (with attached shopping list) at church on Sunday, October 8 or 15, and return it filled on or before Sunday, October 22.  These boxes will be delivered to local families in need by members of our Hunger Team and other Children's Hunger Fund partner churches.

Prayer for our Global and Local Outreach—Prepare your heart and pray for the needs of our missionaries and partners by using guided prayers for our missionaries and partners who are lifting up the Gospel globally and locally.

Stories of Heartache and Hope along the Refugee Highway—This Sunday evening event will be head at 6:30 pm on October 15. You’ll hear compelling, first-hand stories from our missionaries and indigenous partners who are on the front lines of bringing hope and relief to various refugee populations—Syrians in Lebanon, migrants on Lesvos Island in Greece, and here in our own communities. This all-congregation event will take place at the Wheaton Bible Church campus in West Chicago. Gather your life group, family, and friends to attend this special presentation.

2018 GO Teams—Our short-term missions trip opportunities for 2018 will be unveiled to global destinations, as well to sites in the US to work in hurricane relief and in a prison setting. Materials available for pick up at the GO Teams table on October 15 and 22.

Special Speakers— On Sunday, October 15, Lon Allison, WBC's Pastor of Teaching and Outreach, speaks on our local "Reach" mission. He will elevate our understanding of the tremendous global diaspora (scattering) of refugees and immigrants and challenge us on how we can welcome "the nations" God is bringing to our community. On October 22, we welcome Kyle Reschke, Pastor of Sending and Outreach at Wheaton Bible Church. He will share incredible stories of what God is doing around the world and the amazing connections God brings us when we step forward to be “sent.” Both Sundays will include missionary guest spotlight interviews, plus Karen Kurth (missionary in Romania) will be a featured guest with our children on October 22.
